ABOUT THE PROVIDER

Elizabeth Smith, APRN, FNP

Elizabeth is the founder and owner of Integrative Direct Primary Care. She is a board certified advanced practice family nurse practitioner for fourteen years, with broad experience across family practice, urgent care, home health, and acute care settings.

Elizabeth founded Integrative Direct Primary Care in 2021 because her passion is to provide high-quality patient-centered care that involves having a personal relationship with her patients, which will help serve them in their health journey. Throughout her own health journey, she found that a holistic approach to wellness — including mental, physical, spiritual, financial, and social aspects of health – contributed to her overall health and well-being.

In 2011, Elizabeth was diagnosed with a partial/limited case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS); while she avoided an extreme case that caused paralysis or required hospitalization, she had severe fatigue, weakness, numbness and tingling progressing from her lower to upper extremities. As a result, she experiences life-long symptoms that she must manage, including neuropathy and headaches. She knows and has experienced that when you are not taking care of yourself, your immune system and health responses break down.

Throughout her career, Elizabeth has served in practices where it became less and less possible to spend adequate time with patients. As a result, only the most pressing symptom or complaint could usually be addressed, as opposed to the whole person.

“Through my own setbacks and health issues, I recognized the need for balance. I am opening my practice because I want to spend time with my patients without feeling rushed – so they can be listened to. My goal is to meet my patients’ needs – to guide them in taking care of their overall health by working with them to determine what they want to achieve.”
